Mauricio Garibay Class of 2015

I studied law at ITAM in Mexico City and then went on to become a professional soccer coach at FMF in Toluca. While studying law provided me with a solid mental framework and a thorough understanding of Mexico's civic regulations, my true passion lies in identifying soccer talents. I've been working in professional soccer for 4 years now, initially as a Sports Intelligence Analyst and Scout at Club América in their U17 division. Nowadays, I am working in Club de Fútbol Rayados de Monterrey 1st division as one of the coaches.

During my time at Club América, I dedicated three years to the club, one in the U17 division and two in the 1st division. Following this experience, Rayados recruited my mentor, myself, and our team to join their coaching staff.

They say, "Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life," but the truth is that it takes hard work to excel in your field. But if you are passionate and willing to make sacrifices, you will succeed.

No one is ever fully prepared to go to college. But if you are going to succeed there, you need to learn to be open to knowledge and listen to your classmates' opinions. Harkness opens you the path for excellence. Our teachers don't just instruct; they challenge us to push our limits. Let them push you and enjoy your time there. Seek guidance from mentors like David Bender and Diana Petrus—they're not only brilliant but also very supportive people.
