History
Harkness Institute was founded by David and Gloria Bender in 2010 as a bicultural, bilingual high school. David had the firm belief that there was a need for opportunities for Mexican students that would help them reach their potential and create an impact in the world.
Harkness Institute opened its doors in the fall of 2010 with twenty-two students and seven teachers. Classes were held in a rented space in Bucerías.
In 2012, enrollment had grown to 54 students and the school moved to its current location in Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit.
Harkness Institute today serves over 140 students in grades 10 through 12.
